The David A. Martin
                                                   "Devoted to Dogs"
                                                 Stray Dog Sanctuary

Phase 1 - August, 2007

Will you help us?

We had a death in our family on Tuesday, 7/24/07, my husband's uncle. He died tragically in a motorcycle accident. My husband, Pat, was very close to him. Every Sunday for the past 6 or more years, my husband has gone to his place on Mountain Highway in Spanaway and walked our dogs with his. Devo has 9 dogs; Izzy, Killie, Slick, Happy, Duchess, Hazel, Banjo, Tiny, and Jake.

David "Devo" Martin was a special man. All his life, he has been there for animals, especially dogs. Every stray that came his way, found a loving home with him. He never turned away any animal. And he never asked for any help supporting them.

The vet bills, the neutering and spaying, the food, and whatever else the dogs needed came out of his own pocket. He also walked all his dogs every day, 365 days a year, in all weather conditions, and never complained. He loved his animals, and did what he needed to do for them. Not only did he care for his animals, but he also gave generously to many other animal shelters all around the US.

We have promised him for years that we would look after his family in the event of his death. His last wish for his dogs is for them to stay together on his property until their death. It is time for us to fulfill our promise to him.

We are in the beginning stages of starting a non-profit organization in his name to raise funds to care for his dogs, The David A. Martin "Devoted to Dogs" Stray Dog Sanctuary. What the dogs need right now is food, and a shelter/kennel needs to be built by October 1st. With Devo gone, there is no one to let them in the house during the cold nights of winter. What we need is your help, (and gas money to get out there every day to feed and walk them).

We are putting together an Avon fund-raiser involving Avon representatives from all over the surrounding area and all of our animal-loving customer's combined to be able to raise the monies needed to start the sanctuary. If you or anyone you know would like to help with the fund-raiser, or would like to donate food, money, supplies, labor, construction materials, printing materials, or anything else we will need to start the sanctuary,
